How to find Shire Games

Monday 30th November 2009

There were just seven of us in the pub this week ....

Players:

Darren, Gordon, Nick, Rachel, Rich, Sue, Suzanne

Games Played:

I won the bunny game last week, so we won't be seeing that one again. Instead .....

Excape

Gordon:    21
Rachel:    19
Rich:    12
Darren:    10
Sue:    6
Nick:    2

Back to normal for me this week.  Although there is obviously still something not right with the World, as Gordon won a dice game!

A quick split into two groups ....

Saint Petersburg

Sue:    96
Suzanne:    81
Rachel:    71

This was a game that Rachel had played online but never face-to-face. It was new to Suzanne, but Sue had played many times before. Apart from that, I don't know much about it, as I was concentrating hard on the next table.  Not concentrating on the table, obviously, but on the game we were playing on it.

Last Train to Wensleydale

(Stuff + Sets +/- Income - Track)

Gordon:    (21 + 6 + 5 - 0)    32
Darren:    (21 + 8 + 1 - 1)    29
Rich:    (23 + 8 - 1 - 4)    26
Nick:    (21 + 6 - 1 - 10)    16

Oh dear.  That looks like a bad score, when you consider the other three were pretty close. The first number is the amount of stuff we delivered - whether passengers or goods. These numbers were pretty close. The second number is sets (cheese, stone, green guy, red guy). We all managed two or three sets, although I had to lay a load of track in the final turn to get my second (probably a bad idea). After that, it was still pretty close, but then we had to add or take off where we finished on the Income track (which Gordon had dominated) and then lose a point for each remaining piece of track on the board (which was a killer for me). This was a tough game ... We all were learning it for the first time and from the book. But we all enjoyed it and remarked that we should really play it again soon.

Dominion & Dominion - Intrigue & Dominion - Seaside

Rachel:    52
Sue:    45
Suzanne:    29

I think this was the first game the guys have played by mixing all three games together.  I have no idea how it played out, though ... Still concentrating on the cheese (not a euphemism).

All of a sudden, there were four of us left ....

Power Grid Factory Manager

Sue:    €197
Rachel:    €189
Nick:    €175
Darren:    €150

This was a very good game ... the first time I've played with more than two players, and you get to see a lot more of the machines. And something I didn't come last in tonight! Woohoo! Apart from that, this was too long ago for me to remember much about it, sadly ... But I remember it looking like a close fight between Rachel and Sue.

And that was it for another week.  Thanks to those who came along, see you next week!
