How to find Shire Games

Thursday 8th October 2009

Twice as many as last week! All of a sudden, there's fourteen of us in the shop. This is very likely to be a bit sketchy ....

Players:

Darren, Dave C, Dave F, Jahaan, James, Mark P, Mel, Mike, Nick, Rachel, Richard, Roj, Sue, Suzanne

Games Played:

The first six were off to the temple ....

The Adventurers

Richard:    28
Darren:    18
Mike:    18
Jahaan:    17
Rachel:    17
Nick:    16

Well .... In a couple of practice games, I had fared terribly at this one and died horribly twice. So I drilled into everyone how important it was to be quick. So we all ran. And the boulder practically rolled uphill, as it turned out we had all the time in the World! Richard got exceedingly jammy in finding all the best treasure, and we all got out safe and sound, although I still managed to come last!

Hoppladi Hopplada!

Dave C:    335
Roj:    123
James:    112
Suzanne
:    32
Dave F:    0

Dave C won this one at a canter .... It looks like it only went about five rounds, and he seems to have banked a fair amount each time! Hmmm.

Excape

Dave C:    21
James:    17
Dave F:    13
Suzanne:    6
Roj:    2

Roj claims that he was robbed in this one, having been bumped off the ladder a couple of times with a 76, and a couple of other times with a "XX". I think it's sour grapes, personally ... I mean, you can't be that far behind and claim "! was robbed!"

We now split into three groups .....

Imperial

Darren:    $113,000,000
Jahaan:    $104,000,000
James:    $84,000,000
Roj:    $84,000,000
Nick:    $75,000,000
Richard:    $72,000,000

I was involved in this one, so you'd think that I'd be able to tell you all about it, but I haven't the faintest idea really. I've never quite figured out how to do well here, and tonight was no exception. Darren had loads of investments, spread pretty much around all of the countries. I almost destroyed Austria. We let James' Germans do too well early on, but then everyone ganged up on him. Apart from the Austrians, obviously, as they were almost gone by this point. The two newbies to the game (if you don't count me) came first and second, so what does that say about the rest of us?

Meanwhile upstairs, loads of stuff happened that I know nothing about .....

Dominion & Dominion: Intrigue

Game One

Rachel:    38
Mel:    23
Mark:    16
Suzanne:    16

Game Two

Suzanne:    35
Rachel:    16
Mark:    15
Mel:    5

Both of these look a little bit one-sided. I have heard that the games were a bit "attack-heavy".

Peloponnes

(Buildings or Population)

Dave F:    (26 or 60)    26
Sue:    (24 or 24)    24
Mike:    (25 or 18)    18
Dave C:    (27 or 6)    6

A good close win for Dave F in this one. I think it was everyone's first games of this, except for Sue.

Mow

Dave C:    76
Dave F:    84
Sue:    84
Mike:    126

Again .... I have nothing on this one. Five rounds it lasted, and again it looks very close - certainly up to the final round, when Mike picked up half the flies and triggered the end.

Sharp Shooters

Suzanne:    840
Rachel:    620
Sue:    380

This is what happens when you leave the girls upstairs on their own ... they play silly dice games.

The Adventurers

James:    23
Roj:    21
Richard:    17
Darren:    12
Dave F:    Trapped inside (with his second guy)
Nick:    Both guys dead.

OK ... So I died twice. Once in the lava, and then my second guy drowned in the waterfall. I just think I'm destined never to do well at this one, but I do enjoy it. In fact, this was a load of fun once again, as we all were desperately trying to stay alive. Roj has done a full session report for this game here. Well worth a read ....

Dominion & Dominion: Intrigue

Game One

Sue:    40
Rachel:    33

Game Two

Rachel:    38
Sue:    30

And two more games of Dominion finished things off upstairs.

And that lot took us to about 11.30, and we then called it a night. Thanks to all those who came along.
