Eight of us in the pub this week ... I deleted what I was going to say next, and can't think of anything to replace it. So this will have to do.
Players:
Darren, David F-F, Martin, Nick, Rachel, Rich, Sue, Tracey
Games Played:
Four
of us were in on time nice and early:
(Paths + Stones + Bonus)
Sue:
(15 - 1 + 3) 17
Darren: (10 + 0 + 3) 13
Nick:
(11 + 0 + 0) 11
Rachel:
(6 + 0 + 0) 6
Out of all the Keltis games, I find this one the toughest to play, with regard to agonising decisions. A good win for Sue, as Rachel tries to keep up her record of either winning or coming last in games.
We were now up to seven, and decided to see if you could play this with that many ....
Darren:
(10 + 10) 20
Rich:
(13 + 3) 16
Sue: (7 + 5) 12
Tracey: (8 + 0) 8
Martin: (6 + 0) 6
Nick:
(4 + 0) 4
Rachel: (4 + 0) 4
And the answer is yes, you can. However, not many of the bonus tiles get awarded, as the animals are a little too spread out. But it gave us something to do.
Up to eight, and time to split into two groups .....
David:
156
Martin: 150
Nick:
121
Tracey: 115
This was a bit of a game of two games, with David and Martin the first two to build barns in the fields, and reaping (ha!) a whole bunch of points before I managed to get a barn built; at which point there didn't seem to be anywhere great to build it! Oddly, David and Martin also managed to grab a lot of the decent animals, and I still don't know how they did that. But in the final count, it was a close one, but David had just hung on for the win.
(Buildings or Population)
Rachel:
(32 or 27) 27
Sue:
(20 or 33) 20
Darren: (21 or 18) 18
Rich:
(31 or 15) 15
I don't know a lot about this one, although it did start with the wrong number of tiles on show (Sue hadn't realised that we'd added the six-player tiles in). Only Sue scored thanks to expanding her empire, while everyone else relied on their people for their final score. I am yet to play this with more than three, and I'm quite looking forward to doing so on Thursday.
David:
21
Nick: 18
Martin: 12
Tracey: 10
We had time for this quickie while we were waiting for Peloponnes to finish, and - just as I was about to claim my victory - David rolled a double-3 and jumped past me. Git.
Nick:
30
Rich:
29
Tracey: 27
David:
4
Now ... I seem to remember that this was a pretty close game. I'm half inclined to assume that me writing "45" for David's score is a kind of pen-based typo. Either that, or he went to the bar a lot. Ah ... hang on, I've just remembered: At the end of the game, each tile you have left is minus 5 points, and I think David had struggled to get any single-nationality tables, and so still had five tiles at game's end. That makes sense.
Kingsburg & Kingsburg Expansion
Rachel:
41
Martin: 37
Darren: 33
Sue: 26
This is the most spread-out I've seen the scores in this one. I think we can assume there may have been a bad event or two, as the scores look a little on the low side. Especially Sue's score .... maybe she lost the last fight. As you can tell, I have no idea what happened in this game.
Nick:
22
David: 18
Rich: 13
Tracey: 12
This was a particularly evil game of Dominion, as we had a few attack cards (Saboteur and Thief) and no way of defence, as well as not one card that let you have an extra buy! This meant that hardly any provinces were bought (maybe one or two) and the game eventually ended with three stacks getting emptied. The largest deck at the end of the game was the Trash pile. In fact, we should have counted it - The Trash pile may have won!
And finally .....
Rachel:
43
Nick: 60
David:
74
Sue: 81
Darren: 112
This was a fun way to end the evening .... We all enjoy this fun little card game, even when everyone picks on me. Although I probably did start it. I was busy trying to pick on Rachel from a distance, but all of my attempts ground to a halt at Sue or Darren, which explains their scores!
And that was closing time. Thanks to those that came along.
