Just the eight of us in the shop this week. For reasons beyond my control, I have a stupidly busy day ahead today, so forgive me if I gloss over some details .....
Players:
Darren, Dave F, Mike, Neil C, Nick, Rachel, Rich, Sue
Games Played:
Sue wanted to play this one, and - as she was working for the rest of the night - we decided to grant her request and start with it ....
Darren:
$155
Nick:
$145
Rachel: $80
Dave: $75
Mike: $55
Rich: $55
Sue: $55
Neil: $20
This was a great deal of fun, and ridiculously close, as every single horse was a couple of spaces away from winning the game as the end approached. Mainly thanks to a fair amount of skullduggery any time one of them approached the finish line! Darren owned the winner but didn't have many winning bets, and I owned second with $10 riding on him, but it wasn't quite enough!
We now split into two groups so that four of us could satisfy Mike's request for a game of ...
Darren:
50
Neil
C: 44
Nick: 43
Mike:
16
This is always a good little game, but one that we don't play nearly enough! I took an early lead, but just couldn't find that last little shipment to win me the game before Darren loaded a whole bunch of stuff to give himself exactly enough for the win! And then it turned out that Neil had passed me too! Grrr.
Meanwhile, upstairs, all sorts of things happened. Not all of them very sensible....
Dave
F: (16 - 2) 14
Rachel:
(12 - 0) 12
Rich: (12 - 0) 12
Dave
F: Winner!
Rachel:
Close second.
Rich:
Distant third.
Apparently, Rich was almost lapped!
Game 1 - Haunting Exam
Dave
F: 13
Rachel: 13
Rich:
7
Game 2 - Haunty Balls
Rich:
0m 34.3s
Dave F: 1m 19.7s
Rachel:
1m 30.7s
Game 3 - Spooky Circuit
Rachel:
13.39s
Rich: 14.93s
Dave
F: 15.08s
Kids game!
Rachel:
(30 + 16 + 26 + 27) 99
Dave
F: (13 + 36 + 17 + 30) 96
Rich:
(0 + 27 + 27 + 34) 88
Not a bad catch-up attempt by Rich, having blanked the first round!
Darren:
21 (6 boulders left)
Nick: 21 (2)
Dave F: 20
Neil C: 20
Rachel: 20
Rich: 10
Hm. This one actually fell a little flat for all of us. It would probably be improved by a second playing, but I'm not sure if it is going to get the chance! We found it a little fiddly, and a couple of rules seemed to be a bit vague. A fun theme, though, and a very close finish!
Dave
F: 158
Darren:
62
Rachel: 8
Neil:
0
Nick: 0
Rich: 0
Sue: 0
This is a great remake of Wits & Wagers. It's a faster game, as the points are much quicker to calculate than the betting chips. Although we had one answer that Dave & I were sure of, but because he had some points and I didn't, he could go for his "x7" chip and I couldn't, which put him so far ahead of the pack, we all had to try and gamble in the final round, resulting in several of us losing what we had!
And that was all the time we had this week. Thanks for coming along. Or just thanks for reading, if you didn't bother!
