Eight of us again this week. And we did almost the same things as last week too!

Players:

Alex, Darren, Dave F, Mark P, Mel, Nick, Rachel, Sue

Games Played:

Four of us were in nice and early ....

Hoppladi Hopplada

Rachel:    345
Alex:    275
Nick:    148
Sue:    126
Darren:    26
Dave:    0

Only four of us started this one, but after five minutes - and with the scores still on zero for everyone - Darren and Rachel joined in! Of course, we were all deliberately scoring nothing so that they wouldn't feel out of place when they arrived.

Time to split into two groups ....

Ad Astra

Darren:    62
Rachel:    52
Mel:    48
Sue:    35

This was the upstairs game, and again I don't know a whole lot about it. Darren thought he was in a bit of trouble, so played the scoring cards very quickly, trying to catch everyone out. As he got them back, he played them again, and scored enough the second time to get in front.

Endeavor (1)

Nick:    49
Dave:    44
Mark:    44
Alex:    40

Another excellent game of this one. I was the only one who'd played the game before, but I was trying to give a few hints and tips as we played. I think we had two regions that weren't open by the end of the game. There was a fair bit of attacking going on (mainly caused by Alex), followed by a little retaliation from Dave and me. Alex was trying to get five people in the Mediterranean, so that she could abolish slavery (which she did, costing Dave and I a card each). Mark and I were concentrating more on shipping and opening regions up, whereas Dave grabbed a lot of points from the cities he had connected. Good stuff ... and enjoyed by all.

Keltis - Das Kartenspiel

(Paths + Points + Stones)

Mel:    (16 + 2 + 0)    18
Rachel:    (7 + 3 + 6)    16
Sue:    (16 + 0 + 0)    16
Darren:    (9 + 2 - 1)    10

This quickie nicely filled the time between their game and our game finishing. A very close finish by the look of it. If you ignore Darren's score, that is!  :-)

Railways of England & Wales

Dave:    66
Alex:    49
Darren:    48
Nick:    45

And another very close game! If you discount Dave's score that is, as he wiped the floor with the rest of us.  I went heavily into debt chasing a couple of cards (the three-delivery bonus and the four-colour bonus), but then failed to get either of them by trying to get both! Dave built a Hotel in Birmingham, which proved very useful, and helped as he built the long cross-country route from Fishguard. I managed to get the London to Newcastle route, which cheered me up a little. Darren grabbed a couple of the long routes (Norwich was one), while Alex didn't get a main route, but dominated the North of the map while we all fought for the midlands. A great game, and made more enjoyable as we knew where most of the places were! And Stoke turns out to be the busiest city on the map .....

Endeavor (2)

Sue:    52
Mel:    45
Mark:    44
Rachel:    44

Meanwhile downstairs, we didn't even bother putting this one away, as it was immediately requested again! Mark was the only one who played in both games, and - even though he went into this one with a much better idea of what he was going to do - he came off worse. A good win for Sue, while it was very close between the other three for the places.

And that was all we managed this week. Thanks for coming out, and see you all next time.
