This is a fun little game, which works well with a lot of players. I owned the winning horse, which could be the first time that owning the winner hasn't been enough to secure a victory in the game, thanks to some major betting from Mark and Roj. Mark also owned the 2nd-place horse, which gave him enough for the win. Sue owner the two at the back.
No one else turned up, so we split into two groups .....
Nick:
47
Roj:
42
Mark : 41
Darren:
38
This is a game that we all like a lot anyway, and the expansion just makes it better! We threw in all five different bits, although I can't see us ever playing without the larger building sheets, the event cards, or the King's Army tokens again, as they immediately felt essential to the game. The alternative building rows were fun too, and I had a building on mine which helped with my poor dice-rolling (I think I rolled 9 or less at least ten times in the fifteen seasons), earning me several soldiers, who have become rather more important! A very enjoyable game, and an excellent expansion.
Mike:
Rachel:
Sue: All tied,
really.
The other three decided to give this excellent game a try, despite worries about how long it might take! And as it happened, it took a long time! Apparently, Rachel had earned enough points for the win inside an hour, but had sadly picked up a Status card that meant she couldn't win until she got rid of it. Eventually Mike and Sue caught Rachel for points, but with the same consequences! After a long time trying to rid themselves of their various curses, they decided to call it a draw! Enjoyed by all, though, and some of the noisier moments were overheard by those downstairs too!
Nick:
Fl 17,875
Mark:
Fl 15,525
Darren: Fl 15,100
Roj: Fl 5,200
This was the second game of this one for Mark and I, and we definitely had more of a clue what was happening than the other two. However, I don't think either of us have still quite figured out how to win the game! In fact, Mark chose to speculate on the final colour to crash by giving me a bunch (no pun intended) of cash, which was enough to give me the win, which looked like Mark had sewn up for himself! I still enjoy this game, though I'm not quite sure why or how to do well at it!
Mark then left us, and the last three had a go at ....
(Paths + Stones + Points)
Roj:
(9 + 10 + 4) 23
Nick:
(18 - 1 + 0) 17
Darren:
(13 + 0 + 2) 15
This was a great little card game. Despite it being the card game based on the board game which was based on the card game, it didn't really feel like we were playing multi-player Lost Cities, but instead felt more like playing a card-game version of the little Keltis tile game that we all like. It did have a lot of the same "I want that but can't afford to discard these" feelings to it, though! Interestingly, Roj was the only one who hadn't gone for one main path, but the bonus points he picked up through discarding pairs to claim the stones was enough to take him past both Darren and myself.
And that was all we had time for this evening - Thanks to everyone who came along.
