A rather healthy twelve of us in the pub this week ...
Players:
Alex, Cath, David F-F, Gordon, Haydn, Lesley, Michael, Nick, Rich, Sue, Suzanne, Tim
Games Played:
There were seven of us in nice and early, which meant ....
Michael:
339
Suzanne:
323
Rich: 194
Sue: 160
Alex: 154
Nick: 65
Gordon:
32
Interestingly, if you look at the little scoresheet with this one, it shows that Suzanne, Michael and Sue each banked points five times. The rest of us managed three at most, which kind of shows that "little and often" tends to win this game. However, that never stops any of us - especially me - going for the "I wonder if I can do this in one go" approach.
Meanwhile, four others appeared and went for this little one ....
(Paths + Stones + Bonus)
Tim:
(22 + 2 + 4) 28
Cath:
(11 + 10 + 6) 27
Lesley: (14 - 3 + 7) 18
Haydn:
(5 + 2 + 2) 9
A very close game between Cath and Tim. Tim had a huge score when looking at the paths, but Cath almost caught him based on the stones and bonus points.
All twelve of us were in now, so three groups of four were formed ....
Nick:
50
Alex:
49
Tim: 49
Cath:
33
This finished up remarkably close. We played on the German board to give the newcomers a little bit more room, and yet we still ended up desperately searching for that last link in the final round! I set out in the top-right corner of the board, which I seem to do every time I play this side of the board! It left me a little uncontested early on, and Alex had a similar luxury at the bottom of the map, while Cath and Tim contested the centre. Tim and I were both up to size 6 locomotives, which was quite unusual, and yet these are the highest scores we've seen in a game, so we must have been doing something right! Alex at one point got her income up as high as 6 or 7, which we'd not seen before, and you wonder whether taking one of those sets of points as VP would have given her the game .... ? A great game, enjoyed by all.
Lesley:
100
Michael:
91
Rich: 88
Haydn: 84
This looks like another high-scoring game. I did glance over at one point to see how it was going, and everyone pointed at Lesley when I asked who was winning ... So it's not like they weren't trying to rein her in! However, a nine-point cushion in this game is quite a nice margin.
Played with the E-Deck.
(Fields + Pastures + Grain + Veg + Sheep + Piggies + Cows - Unused Fields + Stables + Rooms + Family + Cards + Bonus)
David:
(1 + 3 + 1 + 2 + 3 - 1 + 2 - 0 + 4 + 12 + 1 + 0) 28
Sue:
(3 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 2 + 2 - 1 - 1 + 0 + 0 + 9 + 2 + 0) 25
Gordon: (1 + 3 - 1 - 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 - 5 + 0 + 4 + 9 + 5 +
3) 23
Suzanne:
(-1 + 2 - 1 + 1 - 1 + 2 + 4 - 2 + 0 + 0 + 9 + 1 + 0) 14
This is a very low-scoring game of Agricola. I've been trying to figure out why, as I was a long way from the game and didn't get to see any of it really. There seems to be very few points awarded for houses: David had a four-room clay house, and Gordon had upgraded to Stone, but not expanded at all. There doesn't seem to be too many points awarded for cards either, assuming Gordon had the Well - The other points seem to have come from the odd fireplace. Still ... A good win for David in what looks like a tricky game.
Just time for two more games with those that remained after the three main features ....
(Tiles + Fincas + Bonus + Unused actions)
Sue:
(33 + 10 + 0 + 6) 49
Michael:
(37 + 0 + 7 + 2) 46
Lesley: (30 + 10 + 0 + 2) 42
Suzanne:
(27 + 5 + 0 + 4) 36
Another one I know nothing about - Michael seems to have sold the most fruit, and also been the only one who managed to grab a tile of each number for the bonus, but sadly he couldn't get his hands on any of the Finca bonuses, one of which would have been enough to give him the victory.
(Points + Gold + Treasure)
Nick:
(15 + 20 - 4) 31
Haydn:
(-5 + 21 + 7) 23
David: (-5 + 8 + 3) 6
Alex: (-5 + 7 + 3) 5
Rich:
(-5 + 8 + 0) 3
This was a fun game, as always really - Although Rich might tell you something different, as his boat got stuck going nowhere for a few turns. I raced ahead - I guess I must have had my movement cards at the right moment - and almost ended the game five turns earlier than I did (if only someone had placed the dice the other way round!). However, even having to wait five more turns, I still managed to be the only ship that was in the positive scores on the board! Of course, this meant that I hardly had to fight anyone, being so far in front, which helped a lot, although did mean I was lumbered with a bad treasure chest that I was never going to get rid of!
And that took us to chucking-out time. Thanks to all who came along.
