How to find Shire Games

Monday 20th April 2009

Sue and I couldn't make the pub this week, but five brave souls still turned out.

This session report comes courtesy of David H, so you have to read the whole thing in a New Zealand accent in your head. If you're not sure of a NZ accent, imagine someone speaking to you with an Australian accent, but with you not immediately feeling the need to smash them in the face  :)

Players:

David H, Haydn, Rich, Simone, Suzanne

Games Played:

A lightly attended (5 of us) Monday night where sadly the pub had gone all out for us, clearing the tables and blocking off our playing area to ensure that the general public didn't sit in our spot... Made us feel terrible when the pub owner proudly told us how they had set things up for us, and then asked if many people were coming...

David & Simone were first to arrive so started to play Cheeky Monkey, as we began Rich showed up so he joined in. Haydn arrived in time to see Simone hammer us into the ground:

Cheeky Monkey

Simone:    A lot
David H:    A little
Rich:    Also a little.

As we debated which four player game to fill 15 minutes until Suzanne was likely to arrive, she did ... So we played Niagara

It was the first time for Simone, David and Suzanne but that didn't stop Simone snatching a joint victory with Rich.

Niagara

Simone:
Rich:    Both win
David:
Haydn:
Suzanne:    All don't win.

We then decided to throw King Zombie a bone and play a Zombie game, Mall of Horror which was described as a political game with players getting eaten. It would be fair to describe the game as "unloved" by either of the girls, so they promptly won it, being the only two left alive at the end of the game.

Mall of Horror

Simone:    12
Suzanne:    3
David:
Haydn:
Rich:    All dead

At this point Rich had to leave so we tried out Alhambra with Haydn teaching. A very nice game enjoyed by all, especially me since I won for a change! Simone and Suzanne seemed to get the hang of building insanely long walls very quickly, but also seemed to hamper their own possible growth a bit much while Haydn and I duked it out for control of the purple. It came down to the final auction and Simone having 6 green coins to Haydn's 5 leaving me with the most purple and the win.

Alhambra

David:    116
Simone:    113
Suzanne:    103
Haydn:    90

And that seems to be it for this week.  Thanks to those who came out - We should be back to normal from now on!
