Ten of us in the shop this week .....
Players:
Darren, Dave F, Jahaan, Mike, Neil C, Neil H, Nick, Rachel, Richard, Sue
Games Played:
One quick starter as people were arriving ....
Rachel:
21
Jahaan: 19
Darren: 18
Mike: 6
Dave F: 0
Nick:
0
Obviously, if you look at the result, a game which is totally reliant on luck. Nothing to do with pushing your luck too far, or anything. Oh no, not at all.
We
then split into two groups, although Sue was too busy browsing the web
working to join in just yet .....
Dave
F:
52
Rachel: 46
Jahaan: 34
Neil
H: 34
A game I know absolutely nothing about, as per usual when I'm busy getting beaten at something else downstairs. A good win for Dave, here, by the looks of it.
Richard:
$4,500
Neil
C: $4,210
Nick: $3,810
Mike: $3,530
Darren: $3,150
Well ... I tried to ban Richard from this game, as he has played it numerous times in play-test mode, and we all (quite rightly, as it turned out) assumed he was going to beat us. Neil actually ran him quite close, although he'd played a game and a half before too, while the rest of us plodded along. We all really enjoyed it, however, but it is definitely one of those games that you have to play half a game of before you get it all. Looking back, the three of us let Richard and Neil produced hundreds of little cheap cars while we all concentrated on the mid-price and luxury ones. Darren had a mid-round where he under-produced, which seemed to cost him pretty heavy. A very good game, and one we want to play again pretty soon.
Meanwhile, upstairs ....
Rachel:
37
Dave F: 23
Sue: 22
Neil H: 19
Jahaan:
10
Give it a week or three, and we'll actually have the expansion that allows you to play this game with five players! In the meantime, it seems to do a pretty good job as it stands, although Rachel looks like she ran away with this one a little.
Neil
C: 82
Richard:
80
Nick: 79
Darren: 78
Mike:
72
This was ridiculously close. I had a couple of quiet rounds to start with, having taken ghouls and declined them in round 2, but then I went a bit mad with my Commando Orcs and started scoring quite high, which drew a lot of attention. The finger-pointing started then, and I cam under attack from all sides. In retaliation, I did what I could to disrupt Richard and Mike, but Neil sneakily snuck under the radar, watched the rest of us beat each other up, and grabbed a 7-point "wealthy" bonus to nudge him ahead of the rest of us in the final turn.
Sue:
(1 + 8) 9
Neil
H: (4 + 4) 8
Jahaan: (0 + 6) 6
Dave F: (2 + 2) 4
Rachel: (3 + 0) 3
Sadly, they didn't quite have time for the third race this evening, which meant that the scores for race three (12, 9, 6, 3) went unawarded. So Sue gets the win. Surprisingly, it was Sue's decision that they didn't have time for the final race. Hmm.
And that was all we had time for this week. Thanks to those that came along, and we'll see you all next week.
