A very quiet night in the pub this week, with just the five of us in ....
Players:
David H, Nick, Simone, Sue, Tim
Games Played:
We decided to start with a quickie while we waited to see if anyone else was coming ...
Simone:
41
Sue: 68
David: 106
Nick: 116
Tim:
123
This was a close battle between the three guys to see who could come last. Each round had one massive herd that included most of the special cards, and Tim, David and I took a couple each during the six rounds.
We decided we weren't getting any more, so broke out the longer stuff:
Nick:
96
Sue: 94
David: 84
Tim:
80
Another fun game of this excellent new Days of Wonder game. I started the game with some pretty far-reaching Amazons, who spread themselves remarkably thin and almost immediately went into decline. My second race were Spirits, which meant I could keep both races declining for the remainder of the game, and one little Amazon - Geoff Boycott style - managed to last the whole game and be not-out at the end. David went berserk with some Ratmen and grabbed a massive 16 points in one round. Sue was the sneaky one ... I hadn't really been paying attention to how many points she was collecting, and was very surprised she was only a couple of points behind me at the end. She did take a "Wealthy" race at one point, which had a couple of coins on it, which is a unnoticed way of grabbing nine points, I guess.
David:
125
Sue: 107
Tim: 102
Nick: 100
Simone: 93
Another fun game of this one, which we all enjoyed (I think). The scores were actually pretty close throughout the game, although Simone was always a step or two behind. I started and was hoping to get to a farm first, especially as we were all adding to the same field and scoring loads of points, but Tim did something sneaky and got there first. So we all destroyed his farm as quickly as we could. As the game neared its end, David played a double tile and scored about 16 points from it, then - as last player - managed to draw the "game end" tile and bring it to an immediate end before we could retaliate!
We were down to three, and played this quickie to end with ...
Nick:
21
Tim: 13
Sue: 12
A fun little closer, and one which I seem to be getting better at, which is something of a miracle as it's a push-your-luck job!
And that was all we managed this week. Thanks to those who came along.
