How to find Shire Games

Thursday 2nd April 2009

I think there ended up with fourteen of us in the shop this week .....

Players:

Barrie, Darren, Dave F, David H, Jahaan, Mark P, Mel, Nick, Rachel, Rich, Richard, Roj, Simone, Sue

Games Played:

Age of Empires III

Roj:    107
Richard:
85
Barrie:    75
Darren:    70

In Roj's own words, he absolutely wiped the floor with all of them in this one (OK ... so I may be paraphrasing a little).

Royal Palace

This was the choice of another four ...

(Tiles + Cards + Edges ... I have no idea either, haven't played this one yet)

Mark P:    (39 + 4 + 18)    61
Simone:    (37 + 16 + 4)    57
Mel:    (39 + 4 + 8)    51
David H:    (39 + 8 + 0)    47

I have no idea what happened in this one, in fact I don't really understand what the scoring means. I really must play this game soon.

BattleStar Galactica

And the other five in at the time went of to deep space ....

Nick:    (Revealed Cylon)
Rich:    (Unrevealed - but pretty obvious - Cylon)     Winners
Dave F:    (Human)
Rachel:    (Human)
Sue:    (Human)            All lost.

This was a fun game, and I finally got to be a baddy! Sadly, Sue can read me like a book.  So she says ... what actually happens is I get accused of being a Cylon/saboteur/traitor in pretty much every single game we play, so someone was going to get it right eventually. Sue also claims to have pegged Rich early on, but for some reason she decided to do absolutely nothing about it, so I reckon she's all talk. Anyhow .... Through some pretty skillful Cylon play and a perfectly timed reveal, Rich and I managed to drop the ship's morale level to zero and cause them all to go into a deep depression and let the Cylons take over.  Oddly, Cylon is already in my spellchecker.

The two upstairs groups mixed things around a little ....

Yspahan

Richard:    107
David H:    85
Simone:    72
Jahaan:    69

This looks like it was a pretty comfortable win for Richard. My guess is repeated use of the caravan :)  Jahaan later said it took him a round and a half to get the hang of it ... so his score is pretty impressive, really.

Small World

And this new one saw some table time ....

Mark P:    102
Darren:    93
Mel:    78
Roj:    74

I don't know much about this one, although it looks a little like a two-horse race between Mark and Darren. It was enjoyed by all four of them, however, so there's another game I have to add to my "must play" list!

Die Säulen von Venedig

Nick:    76
Dave F:    75
Jahaan:    72
Rachel:    63
Sue:    53

This was a very close game, and one that went on for a little longer than usual, as no one was quite in the position to end it! Eventually, there were three of us in with a shout in the final round, and I had a Spy ... so all I had to do was find a card that gave me 5 points to catch Dave, and I stole one from him for six points!

Witch's Brew

Simone:    24
Richard:    22
Rich:    18
David H:    17

And this was (almost) the last game played upstairs. I don't think anyone was particularly excited by it, but it filled 30 minutes!

Lost Cities

Roj:    (14 + 49 + 28)    91
Darren:    (-8 + 11 + 46)    49

And that really was the last game of the evening.

Thanks all for coming along. Don't forget: No Shire Gamers next Thursday, as it's Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
