Monday 1st June 2009
A gorgeous evening out, but we managed to get ten of us in the pub this week ....
Players:
Alex, Darren, Gordon, Haydn, Mark P, Mel, Nick, Rachel, Sue, Suzanne
Games Played:
Mel:
416
Alex: 290
Rachel: 275
Nick: 260
Sue: 260
Mark: 188
Darren:
135
Well ... it's not very often that the lowest score in this one is in three figures! Actually, it was Darren who started a big-scoring chain of rabbits, and we all managed to cash in for a bunch of points before the dice came back to Darren, and he failed. Which serves him right. That was the quickest-ever game of this, and also the highest score, I'm pretty certain.
We split into two groups. And the first group played something short while we waited to see if anyone else was coming.
Mel:
(0 + 9 + 9 + 7) 25
Rachel: (0 + 2
+ 9 + 6) 17
Alex: (3 - 2 + 6 - 1) 6
Sue:
(-2 + 1 + 2 + 1) 2
As I understand it, Mel had been practicing solidly since her dismal failure on Thursday. And oddly, Sue was the best at this last week, and paid the penalty this time.
Gordon:
94
Haydn: 86
Darren: 83
Mark: 83
Nick:
73
We're still not tiring of this excellent game. In fact, this one had two newbies (Gordon and Haydn) who then proceeded to beat all of us. This was mainly achieved by finger-pointing and claiming that everyone else was doing well. I wasn't doing well at all, which was pretty obvious to everyone, but the lead changed a few times we think. Darren started very strongly thanks to having Stout Ghouls, which could spread out in turn one, then decline, then continue conquering in turn 2 onwards .... But he petered out as he had to decline his second race (mainly cos we all picked on it) and lost his ghoulies. in the meantime, Gordon had spread his Skeletons incredibly thin, and when they went into decline they were earning a massive 13 points for him along with his second lot. I think there was a time when we all thought the mark was winning as well, so he had to remove as many of his Amazons as we could just to keep him in check as well. God knows what Haydn and I were doing in the meantime, but whatever it was, he was better at it than I was.
Sue:
33
Mel: 26
Alex: 19 (4 clients)
Rachel: 19 (4 clients)
Suzanne:
19 (2 clients)
I know absolutely nothing about this one. In fact, I haven't had the chance to play it yet, so I don't even know whether that is a good score or not - although Sue and Mel do look like they wiped the floor with the rest of them.
We then mixed the two groups up a little .....
Haydn:
42
Rachel: 41
Mel: 34
Suzanne: 32
Alex:
28
Another one I know little about, but it looks like it was a pretty close-run thing. Although having said that, Kingsburg can often be pretty tight!
(Fields + Pastures + Grain + Veg + Sheep + Pigs + Cows - Spaces + Stables + House + Family + Cards + Bonus)
Darren:
(4 + 3 + 4 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 2 - 0 + 2 + 3 + 12 + 5 + 3) 43
Sue: (2 + 3 +
1 + 4 + 2 + 1 + 3 - 2 + 2 + 4 + 12 + 5 + 0) 37
Nick: (0 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 2 + 0 - 0 + 0 + 4 + 12 + 6 +
4) 36
Mark: (3 + 3 + 4 + 2 + 3 + 2 + 1 - 0 + 0 + 3 + 9 + 1 +
0) 31
Gordon:
(2 + 3 + 1 - 1 + 2 + 2 + 2 - 2 + 1 + 6 + 9 + 2 + 0) 27
You know .... I don't remember a whole lot about this one. This was in the pub, don't forget ... and it was a warm night, which means you have to drink a lot more just to stop from dehydrating. Or something like that. Anyway ... the scores are broken down right there - Figure it out for yourselves.
A few people had to disappear, which left five of us ....
Nick:
57
Darren: 60
Haydn: 63
Sue: 64
Rachel:
126
Well, I haven't the faintest idea how I did that. It was actually a very close game of this fun little closer (well ... If you don't count Rachel of course, who did me the favour of scoring a load of points just as I managed to get my nose in front).
And that was all we had time for this week. Thanks for coming out. At least that has got summertime out the way - back to normal next week.
