Monday 23rd February 2009
Sue and I weren't at this Monday meeting, but thanks to David H, here's a quick rundown of what went on .....
Players:
Darren, David F-F, David H, Gordon, Haydn, Rachel, Rich, Simone, Suzanne
Games Played:
David and Simone were first to arrive a bit late ..... So they had some Sushi:
Simone 12
David 5
Fortunately just as they finished that and were about to give up on the idea of anyone else coming Rich arrived, so we played a Zombie game:
Rich:
Won
David: Didn't win
Simone: Also didn't win
Rich won with many brains to none left.
By this stage several others turned up - 6 to be precise - and lacking Diamant it was decided that we should play Take5. Just as the hands were dealt out the rules absorbed two more arrived so rather than start that, we split into two games of four apiece, Rich having pulled a runner!
Simone:
49
Gordon: 43
Rachel: 42
Suzanne: 38
A fairly tight game of Kingsburg was had, the highlight being Rachel forgetting to use the Market for most of the game ... Doh!
Darren:
46 (wins on tie-breaker)
Haydn: 46
David H: 42
David F-F: 32
I've been clamoring to try this for awhile now, enjoyed it (none of us had played before) but like others felt it could have gone on longer.
Suzanne 16
Gordon 12
Rachel 11
Simone 7
Since they had finished Kingsburg well before us, the other group switched to Roll Through the Ages. I don't know if Rachel rolled all the dice she was allowed, but it wouldn't surprise me if she didn't!
David
F-F: 7
David H: 7
Haydn: 3
Darren: 0
Since they were still playing Roll Through the Ages, we switched to a bit more Sushi!
We then shuffled around into two groups, after Gordon had hit the road....
Simone:
58
David H: 43
Rachel: 28
Haydn: 25
We played a fairly mean dominion set with the Thief and Spy in play but no Moat; there was however the Gardens, which made for very big decks.
David
F-F: 37
Darren: 28
Suzanne: 27
The other group played San Juan, which Dave won by having an impressive array of buildings - Despite Darren's valiant efforts to stuff his chapel full of cards.
At the end of the night we decided to end up on Diamant
...
Rachel:
20
Haydn: 20
Darren: 13
David H: 12
David F-F: 6
Simone: 4
As usual it seemed the deck was stacked only with disaster cards, Rachel taking an early lead by bravely running away at the first opportunity each time before the mine collapsed on the rest of us. However Haydn managed to sneak up and tie for first place somehow!
Thanks again to David for giving us a record of what went on, and for everyone who came along despite Sue and I not being there. See you all next week!
