For the third or fourth games night running, we had the rather awkward number of eleven of us looking to play some games. Sue, however, wasn't playing tonight, which made things much easier!
Players:
Alex, Barrie, Darren, Dave F, David H, Mike, Nick, Rachel, Roj, Simone
Games Played:
The first four jumped straight into this fun little dice game ....
Mike:
351
Alex:
283
Nick: 170
Barrie:
96
A fun game, that had one massive scoring round started by Alex, allowing Mike to score even more, and then ending with Barrie before I got the chance at it! Still .... A pretty impressive win for Mike, who continued past the winning score to try and solidify his position. And a pretty impressive last-place score too, as this is usually zero.
Meanwhile, more people arrived:
Roj:
70
David
H: 60
Darren: 59
Dave
F: 54
This looks like it was a pretty close game, although I caught the end of it, and Roj was picking up some pretty handy cheques with some pretty small buildings!
Dave
F: 1st
Simone:
2nd
Mike: 3rd
David H: 4th
Barrie:
5th
This was a single-lap race on the Monaco circuit. Beyond that, I don't know much about what happened in this one!
Darren:
110
Nick:
105
Alex: 104
Rachel: 95
Roj:
85
As always when you have five players, this was an excellent game. Alex was the only one new to it, but picked it up pretty quickly, screwing everyone (but especially Roj) over from the word "go". I shot off to an early lead, but started to get heavily pegged back by Darren and Alex, with Darren finally coming out on top. I made a bad decision in the final Castillo placing, but it wouldn't have changed the winner.
David
H: 14
Dave F: 13
Barrie:
3
Mike: -5
It would be weird if a whole games night went by without Dominion getting played. Looking at the Mike's score, I guess the curse cards were in this one!
We shuffled up the groups a little ....
Barrie:
Darren:
Dave F:
David H: All lost.
This was over pretty quickly, as the guys let the heat get completely out of control and the sub blew up.
Alex:
Fl 1,310,000
Mike:
Fl 1,050,000
Roj: Fl 980,000
Rachel: Fl 940,000
Nick:
Fl 600,000
I enjoyed this one, although I think I may have been in the minority. The auction gadget is a lot of fun, and it's interesting to watch how short a time it was before we started paying lots of money for particular cards. I reckon those ship cards are a bit over-powerful, as I never saw one and ended up way off the pace (not that it was anything to do with my judgement in other auctions, oh no!). A very good win for Alex who jumped to an early lead on the Commodities tracks and never really looked back.
Darren:
25
Barrie:
24
Dave F: 24
Wow ... this looks like it was a very close game. With three players, you get to choose two characters every turn, which must have sped the game up quite considerably. A good narrow victory for Darren again, who had a pretty good night!
And that seems to be it for this week. I could have sworn there was another game played, but there's no record of it on the score pad! thanks to all who came along.
