A nice round ten of us in the pub this week ....
Players:
Darren, David F-F, David H, Gordon, Nick, Rachel, Rich, Simone, Sue, Suzanne
Games Played:
As
seems to happen pretty often, seven of us were here on time early,
and this happened to be in the bag.
David
H: 334
Rachel:
227
Sue: 151
Darren: 106
Rich: 93
Nick: 88
Simone:
51
This one seemed to go on forever, with David deciding to go for the "little and often" tactic, often passing more dice than he really should have to Simone; although, surprisingly, she wasted pretty much all of them!
We were up to ten by now, so split into two groups of five
Simone:
61
Sue:
55
Darren: 50
David H: 47
Suzanne:
35
This is quite a spread of points for this game. Other than that, I haven't the faintest idea what went on at this table. I was too busy being assassinated in ....
David
F-F: 98
Nick:
90
Gordon: 71
Rachel:
60
This was another excellent game of skullduggery and card-collecting (It's kind of like Ticket to Ride, really, but with assassinations in it). David passed up on a lot of early hexagonal points in order to get a King in first, which he managed quite nicely. And in fact it was his second King later in the game that won him the 16 points for the majority which took him past everyone and gave him a well-deserved victory.
Pillars of the Earth & Expansion
David
H: 57
Simone:
49
Darren: 49
Sue: 48
Suzanne: 35
Sticking with the Cathedral theme, the five Parisians went off to .... erm ... Kingsbridge (is it?) to build another one. This had the expansion in it (otherwise 5 couldn't play), so Suzanne was kind of thrown in at the deep end for the second time tonight! A good win for David here in what is normally a very tight game, with Simone nicking second thanks to a little extra gold.
(Cards + Gold - Cards - Miners)
Nick:
(54 + 40 - 15 - 10) 69
David
F-F: (61 + 21 - 11 - 3) 68
Rachel: (40 + 14 - 9 -
6) 39
Sue and I had played this once before, but the extra player makes it a much more tense affair (god know what it'd be like with four!), as the end can rush towards you if you're not paying attention. In one turn, I removed three cards which emptied three buildings, and all of a sudden we were just about done! I had pulled a decent amount of gold on a couple of my digs, which allowed me to win by a single nugget, despite David seemingly to be in complete control of the bonus cards!
And those five games were all we had time for this week. Thanks to those that came out.
