Ten gamers in the pub this week ....
Players:
Dave
H, David F-F, Haydn, Martin, Neil C, Nick, Rich, Simone, Sue, Tracey
Games Played:
There were seven of us in early, so we split up to play a couple of quick openers ....
Rich:
(20 + 24) 44
Sue:
(11 + 10) 21
Tracey: (13 + 7) 20
Martin: (8 + 0) 8
This is a pretty big winning margin for this game. Come to think of it, it's also a pretty big losing margin!
And the other three of us were shipping goods ....
Simone:
75
Dave:
67
Nick:
67
This was a pretty close game, although Dave and I thought we might be in trouble as Simone managed to sell goods for 18 cash a couple of times during the game (three boats, 6 cards)!
We were up to 10 players by now, so split for two five-player longer games.
Simone:
4
David: 2
Dave:
1
Sue: 1
Tracey: 1
Looks like Simone was in charge of this one as well. I am assured it wasn't as one-sided as the score shows, but Simone's tactic of never actually bidding on any auctions seems to have paid off pretty well!
And the other five of us were off to France ....
Haydn:
59
Rich: 55
Martin:
53
Nick: 51
Neil: 49
This was probably the most evil game of Caylus that I've been involved in! There was a lot of moving the provost for the sheer hell of it, just to mess other people around. It took me three turns to get more than the cubes and cash that I started the game with, which was a little bit of a false start for me! No architects were in the game, so no one came close to building a blue building (well ... Rich was close, but forgot he needed an architect!). I would have been comfortably last if anyone had decided to move the provost one step forward on the penultimate round, thereby ending the game early. But luckily he stayed put and I managed to get 6 batches of goods in the castle for 18 points and four favors, which elevated me to the dizzy heights of next-to-last! And in the final round a massive backward provost move completely took Neil and Rich out of the running, giving Haydn an excellent win.
The Emira players were a little ahead of the others, so had time for this quickie ...
Dave:
11
Simone:
3
Tracey: 1
Simone: 0
David:
-4
A fairly comfortable win for Dave in this fun little dice game.
We dropped down to six players for some gold mining ....
Nick:
9
Neil:
8
Rich: 8
David: 5
Sue: 5
Haydn: 2
Woohoo! I hardly ever win this one, but for some reason managed to avoid most of the broken tools that were flying around, despite connecting to the gold in the first couple of mines and painting a big target on my back.
And that was all we got through this week. Thanks to those who came along.
