Double figures in the pub for the first time in a while .....
Players:
David
F-F, Faye, Gabe, Haydn, Jonathan, Kunnagh, Neil C, Nick, Rich, Sue
Games Played:
This is becoming a pretty regular opener .....
Rich:
(15 - 5) 10
Sue:
(8 - 3) 5
Kunnagh: (6 - 6) 0
Gabe: (4 - 6) -2
Nick: (1 - 3) -2
Always fun. A good win for Rich.
Kunnagh and Gabe grabbed some food, so we played this fun little auction game .....
Sue: 18 ($48,000,000)
Rich:
10 ($47,000,000) (largest item 7)
Nick: 10 ($53,000,000)
(largest item 5)
Jonathan: 9
($55,000,000)
Neil:
10 ($40,000,000)
Another fun auction game that went all the way to the last card. The disasters all came out early, which meant that some of us had spent a bunch of cash and didn't have anything to show for it! Sue became impossible to catch as soon as the second "x2" card had been bought ... we just had to hope that she was the most skint, but sadly Neil took that honour!
We were up to ten players now, so we split into two groups of five ....
(Alea Iacta Est scenario)
Haydn:
4 Conditions (32 points)
Sue:
3 Conditions (23 points)
Rich: 3 Conditions (19 points)
Faye: 2 Conditions (25 points)
David: 0
Conditions (15 points)
Three victory conditions were all that were required, and three players reached the goal in the same turn. Sue actually gained all three in that last round, as she went into with none at all. Haydn however had the whole thing under control, and his four victory conditions (including being the first one to three) gave him enough points to keep him ahead of the rest.
Meanwhile, the other five of us were off to Germany ....
Jonathan:
14 of 15 Cities
Nick:
13 of 13
Kunnagh: 12 of 12
Gabe: 10 of 10
Neil: 9 of 13
This was a fun game. Jonathan managed to win from the front, as he was the first to 7 cities (triggering step 2) and stayed in the lead from that point on, eventually building his 15th city just before Step 3 kicked in. Kunnagh and I spent Step 1 blocking each other, but at least that gave us both a cheap second step, as we could just take the ones we had missed out on earlier!
The Tribune guys decided to play a couple of quickies .....
Rich:
Won with 3 live remaining
Sue:
Last to drop
David: Out third
Haydn: Second to fall.
Faye:
First to drop.
This is a silly game.
And then another outing for this great little dice game. Not at all silly, this one.
Faye:
(12 - 2) 10
Sue:
(12 - 5) 7
Rich: (7 - 3) 4
David: (5 - 5) 0
Haydn:
(5 - 8) -3
A good win for Faye, bouncing back from her Dancing Dice embarrassment.
We were down to nine players, and shuffled the groups around a little ....
Haydn:
108
Neil:
97
Rich: 93
Kunnagh:
88
I don't know a lot about how this one played out, although I think Haydn was the only player who managed to get a Shopping Center onto the board, which is worth a whopping 30 points!
And the other five of us were off to race boats ....
(Points + Coins +/- Treasure)
Sue:
(7 + 19 + 3) 29
Nick:
(9 + 12 + 7) 28
David: (5 + 10 + 12) 27
Faye: (15 + 13 - 3) 25
Gabe:
(6 + 13 + 3) 22
This was an excellent game ... Lots of fun, and very, very close. I lost a bunch of gold coins to Sue in a battle on the very last turn, which swung the game in her favour. Faye finished the race, but her poisoned treasure cost her a decent place in the closest game of this that we've ever had!
And how could we finish without this one, especially when we have visitors :)
Sue:
7
Gabe:
6
Haydn: 6
David: 4
Faye: 3
Nick: 3
Neil: 2
Kunnagh:
0
Sue is far too good at this game. She's going to have to be handicapped for future sessions. Kunnagh in the meantime spent most of the three rounds with broken equipment!
And that took us to almost midnight, and well beyond the time we should have all gone home.
Sue and I won't be at next Monday's pub night, and the one after that is a Bank Holiday!
