How to find Shire Games

Monday 8th September 2008

Half a dozen of us in the pub again this week ....

Players:

David F-F, Faye, Neil C, Nick, Rich, Sue

Games Played:

Sushizock im Gockelwok

The first three of us decided on a quick opener to set the ball rolling ....

Rich:    (13 - 6)    7
Sue:    (12 - 7)    5
Nick:    (9 - 10)    -1

A fun little game, with the lead constantly moving. Just before the game ended, I had a 6-pointer stolen, and was then forced to take a -4. Otherwise I would have won, I'm sure of it!

Coloretto

We were up to four players, with two more on the way, so we decided on a quick couple of rounds of this excellent filler ....

Sue:    (38 + 39)    77
Rich:    (34 + 29)    63
Nick:    (25 + 31)    56
Neil:    (25 + 28)    53

This is always a fun game. One day we'll even play the full number of rounds!

Shadow Hunters (1)

We were finally up to six players, so decided that a little shadow-hunting was in order ....

Rich:    (Emi - Hunter)    Alive
Faye:    (George - Hunter)    Dead
Nick:    (Allie - Neutral)    Alive
David:    (Bob - Neutral)    Dead
Sue:    (Werewolf - Shadow)    Dead
Neil:    (Unknown - Shadow)    Dead

This was a fun little game, as always. David was the first to drop, and was struggling anyway with Bob (who seems to be very tough to win with). I revealed Allie at the moment I might get attacked (which wasn't going to happen, I found out), which started to make it clearer who everyone was. But then Faye started in on Rich, which confused everyone again for a while until Faye was killed by the bad guys. After Rich got all his lives back, I decided to side with him and we quickly finished off the shadows.

Shadow Hunters (2)

That was so much fun, we decided to do it again .....

David:    (Frank - Hunter)    Alive
Faye:    (George - Hunter)     Alive
Sue:    (Daniel - Neutral)    Alive
Nick:    (Allie - Neutral)    Dead
Rich:    (Vampire - Shadow)    Dead
Neil:    (Werewolf - Shadow)    Dead

Another fun game, with Faye and I managing to draw the same characters we had in the first game! As Rich was killed first, Sue revealed Daniel and added another hunter to the game, making things pretty tricky for Neil! As I was Allie again, I just wanted it over soon, so I joined up with the Hunters as well, so Sue killed me. Eventually Neil was put down and the good guys triumphed again, this time managing to all be alive at the end.

Citadels

We decided to stay in one group rather than split up, so this game was chosen for the six of us ....

Rich:    (27 + 3)    30
Faye:    (22 + 4 + 3)    29
David:    (25 + 0)    25
Neil:    (22 + 3)    25
Sue:    (24 + 0)    24
Nick:    (17 + 0)    17

As is evidenced by the score, I spent a lot of this game being assassinated or robbed. Faye was building every round, almost without exception, and was the only one to make it to 8 buildings. However, Rich's little town was just valuable enough to give him the edge over Faye, despite the extra 4 points she earned for being the first to eight buildings.

Cheeky Monkey

That just left us time for a couple of quick games to end the night ....

(Animals + Bonuses)

Nick:    (9 + 14)    23
Faye:    (11 + 8)    19
Sue:    (6 + 10)    16
Neil:    (12 + 0)    12
Rich:    (8 + 4)    12
David:    (5 + 0)    5

The third games night running for this fun little filler. Oddly, I struggled throughout the whole game as I kept going bust, but eventually grabbed a couple of bonuses (more by luck than judgment) and nicked the game from Faye. David spent the whole game pushing his luck just a little too far!

Dancing Dice

Sadly, we just about had enough time to fit this one in .....

David:    Two lives left
Rich:    Last to go
Nick:    Fourth out
Faye:
Neil:    Both second to drop
Sue:    First to go.

Another fun (although I don't like to admit it) dice-rolling session. Four of us were out pretty fast, leaving Rich and David with a few lives left to fight it out, with David getting the better of it.

And that was that for another week. Thanks to those that came along.
