A grand total of four of us in the shop this week! That's what happens when you take a week off, I guess!
We even bought a new light bulb for upstairs. Sheesh.
Players:
Dave F, Nick, Rachel, Sue
Games Played:
Sue and I had played this twice the night before, and were keen to try it with four players ...
1st Game
Dave:
Medic
Nick: Dispatcher
Rachel: Scientist
Sue: Operations Expert: All lost
(Well .... actually this was our second attempt, as we cheated a little the first time out).
Things weren't going too badly, as we'd discovered cured two of the diseases, completely eradicating one of them. But then, we had a bit of an outbreak (or two) in North America, and before we knew it, it had spread from San Francisco to Chicago and New York, and we were overrun with Blue cubes.
2nd Game
Dave:
Scientist
Nick: Dispatcher
Rachel: Medic
Sue: Researcher: All won
This went much better! We quickly found cures for a couple of the diseases, but this time did the sensible thing and saved those rare power cards for when we really needed them, making sure we had a safe run of infection cards just before we found the fourth cure. The last Epidemic being an eradicated disease also helped the cause a lot!
This is a great co-operative game, which we all enjoyed.
We decided that no one else was coming, and so we opted for something a little longer ....
(Fields, Meadows, Wheat, Veg, Sheep, Pigs, Cows, Unused Space, Enclosed Stables, Rooms, Family, Cards)
Dave:
(3 + 3 + 1 + 4 + 3 - 1 + 3 - 2 + 1 + 0 + 12 + 3) 30
Nick:
(2 + 2 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 1 - 3 + 4 + 12 + 1) 28
Rachel:
(2 + 3 + 1 - 1 + 1 + 1 - 1 - 1 + 3 + 9 + 1) 18
Sue: (1 + 2 + 2 - 1 + 2 + 1 - 1 - 6 + 3 + 12 +
3) 18
Following a bit of a clunky explanation (it was a while since I'd played), we were off .... as always, with the impression that there was never going to be enough time to do all things we wanted to do. As the final rounds approached, Dave made a habit of taking the exact action I was about to take next (although, admittedly, it was usually my fault for assuming it would be there for me), which moved him ahead of me towards the end of the game. Rachel got a pet sheep early on, but then turned into a bit of a sheep slaughterer, only keeping a pair alive in the very last round! Sue suffered from having too much unused land at the end of the game.
Another excellent game - I really must get our copy anglicised.
And finally, a bit of light relief!
(Cats + Mice)
Rachel:
(34 + 21) 55
Nick:
(16 + 31) 47
Sue: (33 + 4) 37
Dave:
(1 + 21) 22
This one was a lot of fun as usual, and we all managed to get our revenge on Dave by passing a couple of poor auctions that he had bid on!
And that was it. A nice, quiet evening and a few fun games. See you all next week.
