Just the five of them in the pub this week (Sue and I couldn't make it) .....
Thanks to Andy, who has let me lift all of the session reports straight from his website!
Players:
Andy, Mark H, Mark L, Neil, Rich
Games Played:
Mark and Rich were just setting this up when I arrived, so I jumped straight in.
Rich: 15 (10 carriage +10 bonuses -5 unused offices)Mark went for a strategy of getting an office in each region, attempting to go for the outside Baiern bonus, whilst I concentrated on the region of Baiern itself, and Rich was working on the regions around Mannheim and Stuttgart. I picked up the Baiern bonus pretty quickly, and scored a couple of 5-routes too.. Rich scored a nice 7-route, and completed the purple and green regions, while Mark just missed out on the outside Baiern bonus, but still managed to score a nice 7-route.
I was the first player to get into a position to earn the big 7 carriage, however I had not banked on Rich managing to also get his, on the last turn of the game, so even though I got the 1 extra for ending the game, Rich just managed to beat me overall.
By the time we'd finished T&T, Neil and Mark had arrived, so we were looking for something for 5 players. Rich had brought this Cthulhu based card game with him, so we gave it a try.
Neil:
2 laps
Rich: 1 lap
Mark H: 1 lap
Andy: 0 laps
Mark L: 0 laps
Rich had the Cthutility vehicle, Mark H the Fearari, whilst Mark L was racing in the Chariot of the Elder Gods, Neil was in the Vehicle Man Was Not Meant to Drive, and I had the Satanic shopping-cart!!
Rich started at the front of the pack, and took an early lead by overtaking Neil, the back-marker. This did not deter Neil, as he proceeded to move up through the pack, whilst the rest of us were supeing up our cars. In particular I was building up my pit-crew, as each member added to the speed of my shopping trolley!! I also fitted blood-slick tires, the chrome Cthulhu-head gear shift, and eventually some spiky bits. Sadly my crew was wiped out slowly by a rather nasty plague, that also affected Neil's crew and Rich's driver.
Neil was the next driver to go a lap ahead, having stolen the engine out of Mark H's car... he combined that with his cyclopean converter and had a really awesome car! Meanwhile Mark was getting plenty of sponsors, but not actually doing very well in the race... he first signed up with Arkham waffle and pancake house (or something like that!), and when that went out of business, Meadweiser took him on instead!!
Mark H also went a lap ahead, before Neil went a second lap ahead. MarkL and I meanwhile, were still on our first lap!!! The Chequered flag then came out fairly quickly, while I was searching and delving for an additional crew.
Next up was this combat card game that Neil had brought with him.
Mark
L: 5
Mark H: 4
Neil: 1
Rich: 1
Andy: 0
I had 3 really poor hands of cards, with 3 scare-crows in at least two of them, and nothing higher than a 6 in the soldiers... which was swiftly removed from play by a bishop once my drummer had arrived!!
The game quickly became a contest between Mark and Mark, with Rich handing the game to Mark L eventually, when he keyed the last battle that Mark L was currently winning, but Mark H could've taken! At the point Mark L had 5 territories, Mark H had 4, whilst Rich and Neil had 1 each, and I hadn't managed to take a single one!
Mark H had to leave, so we were down to 4 players, and since I had lost the previous game, I had the privilege of choosing this neat little game!!
Andy:
Winner (1 Stamina left)
Neil: 2nd =
Rich 2nd =
Mark L: First to drop.
In a very close dance-off, Mark went out first, with Neil and Rich going out together soon after, whilst I survived on just 1 stamina - thanks to a couple of rockin' rounds at the end!
Still time for something short, and after some discussion, Mark got out his copy of Klunker, and explained the game to Neil and Rich.
Andy:
18
Neil: 17
Rich: 16
Mark L: 11
Mark was unfortunately screwed-over quite early on, and struggled to catch up with the rest of us... otherwise the game was very close between Rich, Neil and myself, with 2 points separating the 3 of us at the end... though I just nosed ahead, thanks partly to some late necklaces (which no-one else managed to score!)
Thanks again Andy .... I promise to write the reports myself on Thursday. Unless I find them somewhere else first :)
