Just the six of us gamers in the pub this week ...
Players:
David F-F, Gordon, Mark L, Nick, Rich, Sue
Games Played:
Four of us were in early, so we had a quick game of this gangster-based poker game ...
Mark:
1 of each Business
Rich: 2
Businesses
Sue: 2 Businesses
Nick:
1 Business
This was a neat little game, playing like a multi-player Battle Line or Schotten-Totten, but poker-based and with a nice bluffing element. The special cards kept re-appearing with the same people, which was a little odd! A good win for Mark, who made good use of the police to help him.
Five of us now, so we went for another quickie to see if anyone else was coming along ...
Gordon:
Reached the King's Chamber
Nick: 1
Chamber behind
Rich: 1 Chamber behind
Mark: 2 Chambers behind
Sue: 2 Chambers behind
This is a fun little game, although it seems to take a lot longer with more players, as the curses and sabotage cards come out a lot more often! Gordon finally managed to get to the end, despite having the Mummy in front of him, with three different "5" cards.
We were now up to six players so we went
for a trip following Mark around the World.
Mark:
59 Days
Rich: 66 days
Sue: 67 Days
Gordon: 70 Days
Nick: Stuck in San Francisco
David: Stuck in San Francisco
This was a record trip, with things going really well for Mark as he broke the magic 60-day barrier. Because he'd raced ahead so fast, I started dallying in the hope to make some cheaper trips, but I dallied a little too much (with David keeping me company), and we got stranded. Mark's first 3-day journey from London to Paris set him on his way, and he never really looked back from there. Always a fun game though.
We decided to split into two groups of three for the last two games of the night. This new one was one of the choices ...
Mark:
50
Gordon: 44
Nick: 40
This was a really interesting card game with loads of cards), and - once we got used to the unusual selection process - one that is full of tricky decisions. A lot of the time, you end up getting income when you really wanted to do something, and sometimes there's just nothing you can do about it! I kept going for the little boats, which doesn't seem to be the way to go, and I think I may have stopped Gordon winning by offering a huge amount for one of his action cards. We all enjoyed it, and it prompted a fair but of discussion - which is always a good sign.
And this was the other choice.
David:
10
Rich: 9
Sue: 4
I know very little about this one, but it seems to have been a pretty tight fight between David and Rich, with both of them picking on Sue to further their own causes! A close finish saw David grab the final point he required for the win.
And that - to all our surprise - brought us to the end of the night. Thanks to those who came along.
