Monday 2nd April 2007
Sue and I couldn't make this Monday night, so the report comes to you courtesy of Mark L ...
Players:
Darren, David F-F, Mark H, Mark L, Rich
Games Played:
Carcassonne:
The City
Darren - 145
Mark H - 141
Rich - 130
Rich spotted this one on the pile that he had been wanting to try. We cracked it open and started to explain the rules which was the only bit I saw as David arrived and we let the other three carry on while we played something else. We did catch the end of the game though as the two games finished almost at the same time. Everybody had some very nice end of game scoring which closed the scores up but eventually had Darren drop out on top.
Ticket To Ride - Europe
Mark L - 135
David - 107
This long routes were Palermo to Moscow for me and Copenhagen to Erzreum for David. David had the longest route by 1 single train 28-27 and claimed the 10 points for them but David needed these points to make up for the failed connection from Rome to Berlin which he was 2 links away when I ended the game. A few longer routes in my section of the board and a couple of extra completed tickets and many lucky draws from the deck gave me the win.
On The Underground
Rich - 39
Mark H - 38
Mark L - 38
Darren - 36
David - 33
We had an amazing choice of five player games to choose from: Princes of Florence, Hermagor, Ra and Caylus. I am a huge fan of this game and everybody else was more than happy to play it. This was a busy board by the end. Scoring had been very tight throughout with me and Rich leading the way and swapping first place over and over again. We had our routes in central locations so the passenger seemed to always have a choice of one of our tracks when moving from East to west London. Rich did have one more turn to move the passenger than the rest of us which may have made the difference at the end but who knows. Big last scoring rounds saw Rich pull away from the pack and me and Mark couldn't catch him up.
Ra
Darren - 48
Mark L - 45
Rich - 33
David - 29
Mark H - 8
We had an hour left and we decided on this one to show that Nick was here in spirit or just to make him jealous. Maybe even both. Darren had a bundle of points from rivers through the game where I picked up two turns of the most Pharaohs and David and Rich got one each. Darren had two 5 point Civilisation scorings through the game after I had made one in the first round. I think the end of game scoring was fairly even for monuments and Darren and I gained the bonus for most suns pushing us further ahead. Not sure who had the lowest suns as I had nipped off to use the pub facilities. Mark H got hit by everything in this game. Least Pharaohs, no civilisation tiles. He had definitely upset the sun god somehow in the last few days.
And that took us to pub closing time after some very good games even if we were low in numbers.
