Thursday 2nd November 2006
As the temperature outside drops to below zero, the numbers inside almost did the same .... A lowly seven in playing games on this cold evening ....
Players:
Andy, Jon, Mark L, Mitch, Nick, Sue, Tim
Games Played:
Yspahan
For the second week running, this was the chosen opener of the evening for the first four through the door.
Sue:
59
Nick: 59
Mark: 51
Andy:
50
A nice, friendly shared victory for Nick & Sue to start the evening. Not sure why they don't include a tie-breaker for this one, but yet another enjoyable game of a new favourite.
Lifeboats
We were now up to 6 players, and so it was off to the lifeboats .... women & children first!
Andy:
24
Mitch: 20
Nick: 19
Sue: 15
Mark: 13
Jon:
5
This was a fun first play for all of us, and a lot of evil fun it was too! I think the game was summed up when someone asked what we were voting for (meaning which stage of the game) and Mitch's answer was "green".
Hermagor
As the numbers went up to 7, we split into two groups. The downstairs crew went off to the fictional city of Hermagor for some market trading and travelling sales...
Mark:
107
Mitch: 104
Sue: 98
Nick: 79
A good win for Mark in a close game, which we all though Mitch had won! I got badly done over in the last round, making a huge loss, although the scores look like I may have been in last place before that point!
Perigrinato
This is a prototype of Tim's, which the remaining players nipped upstairs to play.
Jon:
26
Andy: 24
Tim: 17
I know absolutely nothing about how this one played out (or exactly what the scores mean, to be perfectly honest), but it was a good win for Jon and a moral victory for both Jon and Andy, who won the game "beat the designer" quite comfortably.
Santy Anno
A break from tradition as - instead of our usual closer - we decided to debut a new one from Essen.
Nick:
14
Tim: 10
Mark: 7
Andy: 7
Mitch: 5
Jon: 1
Sue: 1
We only managed three rounds of this one before it was time to call it a night, partly due to the rules taking quite a while to sink in. A fun little game, which will work much better with a little alcohol mixed in to make the challenge a bit tougher!
And that was all we had time for. A nice, quiet (chilly) night of gaming ... thanks to all those who came along!
