Another ten this week ... most freshly coated with beer from the after effects of two late England goals.
Players:
Darren, Dave, Jen, Mark L, Mitch, Nick, Rachel, Russ, Sue, Tim
Games Played:
Coloretto
It has been a while since this fun little game was used as an opener (or at all, really), but we were five and needed something short...
Mark:
(30 + 21 + 19) = 70
Russ: (22 + 25
+ 21) = 68
Mitch: (25 + 20 + 19) = 64
Jen: (19 + 26 + 18) = 63
Nick: (17 + 22 + 21) = 60
This was a pretty close one, and everyone enjoyed it. Even Mark, who isn't a big Coloretto fan (although he did win, which probably helped!)
Ra
While Coloretto was going on, we had four more people who needed entertaining, and so they disappeared upstairs with Ra
Sue:
37
Tim: 33
Darren: 31
Rachel: 19
Surprisingly, this started after Coloretto and finished before it! That's pretty much all I know about the game, apart from Sue won. Which Sue was very happy about.
Antike
We now split into two groups, with the group of 6 going back in time to the Ancient Greece (and surrounding areas).
Mitch:
7
Nick: 5
Darren: 4
Russ: 4
Dave: 3
Sue: 3
A peaceful victory for Mitch, who went down the Progress route. I guess we shouldn't have let him invent 6 different items all by himself, but by the time we realised what he was up to, it was a little too late to stop him! I'd just like to point out that I was the only one brave enough to earn a General.
Starfarers of Catan
Meanwhile over our heads (logically), four people went exploring the stars ...
Mark:
15
Jen: 14
Rachel: 12
Tim:
11
Another game I know very little about, and another win for Mark. This sounded like it was a pretty tight game, with a couple of people being a step or two away from victory before someone stopped them, on more than one occasion.
Blokus
After Antike, we were down to four. As Blokus was set up ready to go, we thought we'd give it an airing.
Nick:
-3
Mitch: -6
Russ: -16
Sue:
-17
A close fight between Mitch and me, and I stole the win from him by placing a 4-piece in a place I'd been saving for myself from the beginning!
Saboteur
And once more, our closer of choice got another run out at the end of the night with the six players remaining.
Mark:
9
Jen: 8
Nick: 6
Mitch: 4
Sue: 2
Russ: 0
The Saboteurs were thwarted all three times this week, despite there being two of them each round. Sadly for Russ, he was on the losing side all three times, earning a grand total of nothing. The gold from the third round was split between Mark and Jen, as they were the only ones still standing.
And that was that for another week. Thanks again for coming out.
