Tuesday 17th January 2006
Well this was an all-time record: A total of three people! Not quite sure where everyone decided to go tonight, but it wasn't Churrasco's!
Players:
Mark, Nick, Sue
Games Played:
Metro
Mark, Sue and I were the first (and last!) to arrive, and so we embarked on a series of three player games to keep us entertained for the evening:
Mark:
80
Nick: 78
Sue:
52
A pretty close fight between Nick and Mark, with Nick's last track just falling short of the length needed to grab the victory.
Ingenious
At this point, we were still expecting the arrival of some others, and so we carried on playing shorter games in the vain hope that someone might show up!
Mark:
11
Sue: 9
Nick:
8
A nice win by Mark, as he managed to get in the lead and then cut Sue and I off from the colour we were after.
Palazzo
Still playing shorter games, but starting to realize it might just be us, we broke out this popular and quick auction game:
(windows + bonuses)
Mark:
16 + 18 = 34
Nick: 23 + 6 =
29
Sue:
20 + 12 - 5 = 27
A strange game of Palazzo, as none of the tiles ever seemed to come out in a good order, and the game eventually ended quite early into the third stack of tiles. Mark - despite having the least windows - got the better of the bonuses, being the only one with a full 12-pointer.
Logistico
A Shire Gamers debutant, this is a tricky little "pick up & deliver" game of managing three vehicles:
Mark:
99
Nick: 63
Sue:
19
Mark ran out a comfortable winner in this one. I managed to make a small profit by the end of the game, whereas Sue ended the game with half the cash she'd started with!
La Cittą
Finally we decided we were on our own, and went for a longer game to round the evening off. An excellent game, which was a pretty close fight all the way through:
Mark:
33
Nick: 31
Sue:
23
I had a bit of a population explosion near the end of the game, and - due to some difficult farm placements - was unable to feed all my new citizens at the end of the game, costing me the five points that would have given me the victory! Mark was handily placed to pick up the pieces and claimed a complete whitewash for the evening!
And that was all for another week. Hopefully, we'll see a few more people next week.
