Thursday 16th February 2006
Illness and tiredness (there's a lot of both around!) are still keeping a few people away, but six brave souls appeared tonight ...
Players:
Jon, Mark, Neil, Nick, Sam, Sue
Games Played:
Die Dolmengötter
This is turning into a regular opener for Shire Gamers ...
Nick:
70
Mark: 67
Sue: 62
Sam:
58
Another tight game, with the result unknown until the final stone circle was counted!
Guillotine
With the arrival of Neil and Jon, we were up to six, but Sue ducked out (can't stand the sight of blood!) while the remainder of us went looking for heads to lop off!
Neil:
19
Jon: 12
Sam:
11
Nick: 11
Mark: 11
A fun game, as always, with Neil winning by a neck! Actually, by a fair bit more than that, thanks to the double bonus offered by the Duke and Duchess.
Industria
We split into two groups of three, with Mark, Neil and I finally getting a game of this one, which we had been trying to crowbar in for a few weeks!
Nick:
46
Neil: 33
Mark:
28
Not quite sure how I did it, but I managed to build a fair number of factories, and benefitted greatly from some of the bonuses.
Vegas Showdown
Meanwhile, there was some casino and hotel building going on upstairs...
Sam:
76
Jon: 66
Sue: 59
Don't know much about this one, sadly, but Sam ended the game - I believe - by completely filling his mat with stuff!
Santiago
Here's a game that we'd played before with three of us, but had been led to believe it was a much better game with five. And it was ....
Sam:
66
Jon: 64
Mark: 59
Nick: 52
Sue: 46
Lots of deal-making, bribery and general whinging from all, as Santiago proved to be "an excellent 5-player romp", as movie reviewers would say.
And that was it for another week. Thanks as always to those who came along.
