After a pretty busy week in the shop, it was kind of nice to have a fairly quiet night tonight, with just six of us all told. Here's what we got up to ...

Mark, Nick and Sue were first in and we thought we'd open up with one of Mark's new games. We'd been waiting to try this game for quite while, so it was nice to see it finally appear. Despite the game looking quite plain at the start of the game, it gets better looking by the end of the game, and there are some pretty nice mechanics in there as well.

I never really saw the need to bribe the overseer. Perhaps I should have made some offers just to make his choice more expensive ... didn't think of that!

Mag*Blast

Mitch and Sam had arrived and launched into this one while we were finishing growing our bananas and chili's.

Mitch:    Won
Sam:    Didn't

No real scoring possible for this one, but Mitch managed to get through Sam's defenses and destroy his Mothership.

Golf Mania!

While Mitch and Sam were busy destroying each other, we thought we'd try out this game and just play up until their game finished. Hence the low scores.

Beowulf

The five of us decided to help Beowulf on his various quests and missions, although he still died in the end. But then, he always does ...

This is a great game with five players. I enjoy it more every time I play (but then I do seem to do well at it!). Tonight was no exception, as I think I only failed a couple of risks, and definitely had one risk where I earned 4 symbols, and another couple where I found three! 

Oasis

After Beowulf, Sam had to leave us but was instantly replaced by Tim. Most of us were keen to play something else, and so Oasis was voted in.

Sue:    (2*10) 20 + (3*10) 30 + (0*1) 0 + (1*14) 14 = 64
Tim:    (1*10) 10 + (6*5) 30 + (4*4) 16 + (1*6) 6 = 62

Another great game of Oasis, with ridiculously close scores at the end. A whole nine points between first place and last!

Apples to Apples

And to end the night off .... a bit of silliness with Apples to Apples.

Another really fun closer, although I think I prefer the game with at least six players, which takes out the option of playing more than one card.

And that was it for the evening. A nice little games night, and the weather had even warmed up a little!
