This is the 2009 reworking of the excellent auction game, Ra.

While the core of the game remains the same (you can see what everyone has left to bid with, and you will only win so many bids per round), the scoring has been re-jigged quite a bit.

But perhaps the biggest change of all is that a lot of the tiles in the game are now two-sided, so when you pull them out of the bag, you need to decide which way they should go.

In some ways very similar, and yet in others it feels quite different. I don't think it's a "family" version or a simplified version, but instead I think it should be considered a "variant" to its excellent big brother.
