This is an excellent bidding and Civilisation game.

Each player starts as one of seven different Peloponnesian civilisations (circa 1000BC) and uses their wealth to bid on land-and building-tiles to expand their empire.

Bidding is tricky, as a player can outbid you for a tile, in which case you have to move your bid to a different tile, but you cannot change your bid, so you may have to allow for this!

Depending on the number of players, there will be some "Conquest" tiles that you can overpay for but guarantee winning.

And then there are the disasters .... Five of them, to be precise, and you can be assured that they will have all kicked in by the end of the game.
