Age of Steam was originally released in 2002 and is widely regarded as one of the best rail games ever. That game was designed by UK designer Martin Wallace and developed by US-based John Bohrer.

Since then, there has been a lot of debate about who owns what rights to the game, the name, etc ... and the result of all this is that two different "third editions" of this excellent game will be released in 2009.

This one is the one that bears the original name, although Martin Wallace has not been involved in the production of this game, and it only bears the "Age of Steam" name because the legal fight to get the rights to it ultimately proved too expensive.

If you are torn between one or the other, our recommendation is to go with Steam, but if you really want one with the original name on it, then sadly you'll have to buy one of these!
