This is the expansion (or follow-up, depending on how you look at it) to the 2008 smash-hit Dominion.

The expansion part of this box contains 25 new Kingdom Cards, rules for playing with up to 6 players, and rules for playing with up to 8 players on two tables.

The follow-up part is the fact that this box also contains all of the Treasure cards and Victory cards as well, so you can play this without having the original game if you want to.

However, as is the nature with these things, the Kingdom cards in this box are a little more complex than those in the original, and so we would recommend - especially if you are new to the game - to go for the original game before trying this one.

In summary:
This expansion can be used as a stand-alone game, so it is not essential to have a copy of Dominion to play it, although we would recommend that you are at least very familiar with the base game before playing this on its own.
